Welcome to the New School Year!

Hello, La Glace School Families of the 2024/2025 Academic Year!!

As some of you may know, I attended La Glace School from kindergarten to grade nine. Upon reflection of these early educational years, I can distill my experience down to one word: community. This word is meaningful for me, and it plays an essential role in my life today. In fact, upon growing into a young adult, I quickly realized that I wanted to re-experience the community that La Glace School embodied. It was a place where teachers and staff truly cared. They knew what your interests were, all while guiding your learning and growing your abilities. Ironically, I am now resuming my role as the Principal for the fourth year, and I see that this small rural school still holds near and dear to its core the essences of community. La Glace School has and always will be a place where children are allowed to and are encouraged to be children, while nurturing adults support them in their academic and life pursuits, so they can reach a level of success that best suits them.

Our school has a small population that we serve, which naturally cultivates healthy student-teacher relationships. These ties strengthen and build upon our students' capacities to be confident in taking healthy risks in their academic pursuits, to stand up for what they believe in, and to develop their voice, while ensuring they are respectful members of society. This year, as we continue to build space for students to reach their full potential, our staff will also be involved in our very own learning in the following ways:

  • supporting communication between home and school
  • working as a team of professionals to support growth in assessment and best practice in the classroom
  • using restorative practice for conflict prevention and management

WE are excited to learn alongside the students and put our own learning into practice this 2024/2025 school year!  Further, we hope students are able to enjoy the community that is found within these walls at La Glace School, and to forever be an LA Gator!

Sincerely, your very own LA GATOR Alumni,

Mrs. Hargreaves
